About this event

AIA Brooklyn invites members, colleagues and friends to an architectural tour with SO-IL Senior Associate Kevin Lamyuktseung of the firm's recent project Amant. After we tour the space, Amant staff will take the group on a walkthrough the current art exhibitions: Carla Zaccagnini, Cuentos de cuentas/ Accounts of Accounting and Olivia Plender, Neither Strivers Nor Skivers, They Will Not Define Us. The architecture tour + art tour will last approximately 1.5 hours (1.5 AIA LU).

About the Amant Arts Campus:

Amant is a non-profit arts organization in Brooklyn, New York City founded in 2019. They are a non-collecting institution that fosters experimentation and dialogue through exhibitions, public programs, and artist residencies.

About SO-IL:

SO–IL was born in New York in 2008. Diverse in origin, our team of collaborators speaks a dozen languages and is informed by global narratives and perspectives. We are both locally-rooted and nationless, coming together as a mid-size, well-recognized company. With our ambitious private and public clients, we explore how the creation of environments and objects inspires lasting positive intellectual and societal engagement.

We have been featured in the New York Times, CNN, and Frankfurter Allgemeine. Our work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Our team has received numerous accolades, including the Vilcek Award, the Curbed Groundbreakers Award, and the MoMAPS1 Young Architects Program Award. Our New York practice is led by Jing Liu and Florian Idenburg.

Project overview from SO-IL (excerpt):

Amant is an arts campus spread across three blocks in rapidly changing, industrial North Brooklyn. This cultural incubator functions both privately and publicly, with artist studios, galleries, offices, storage, and a cafe.
