Expand your knowledge of architecture through photography! This class includes 3 sessions. The first session will discuss photography basics including composition, lighting, and scale along with examples of architectural photography. The second session features a tour of downtown Des Moines that will allow participants to photograph along the way. This tour may extend beyond the allotted class time as desired by participants. Students will select and print photos for the third session critique. Digital camera required, SLR preferred. No phone cameras, please. Students will need to print up to four 8 x 10 photographs before the third session.
All sessions will begin at the Iowa Center for Architecture, 400 Locust St., Suite 100 (Capital Square) in downtown Des Moines.
FIRST SESSION: Tues., May 2, 6:00PM: Photography basics
SECOND SESSION: Tues., May 9, 6:00PM: Photography tour of downtown Des Moines
THIRD SESSION: Tues., May 16, 6:00PM: Photo display and critique
Instructor Chris Boeke, Des Moines native, architectural professional, and owner of Chris Boeke Studio, has been shooting photography for 15 years. During those years his work has gravitated toward architecture as a distinctive art form, and he is eager to share how architecture has inspired his style of photography.
