Description

AIA CES: 2 LU | HSW

From 2012 to 2016, photographer and filmmaker Thomas Halaczinsky retraced the 1614 route of Adriaen Block, the first European to sail and map the archipelago of New York, exploring the magical and mysterious island world that stretches from the harbor to the eastern tip of Long Island.

His 3,000 nautical mile expedition is documented as a mesmerizing photographic and literary logbook in the recently published Archipelago New York (Schiffer Books, 2018).

Open House New York invites you to take a sunset cruise of New York Harbor with Thomas Halaczinsky to learn about how this vast archipelago of seventy islands affects New York life to this day.

The boat will depart from Pier 83 at the Hudson River and West 43rd Street; boarding closes at 6:20 PM.

No food or alcoholic beverages may be brought aboard but sandwiches, salads, snacks, will be available for purchase, as well as hot and cold beverages including wine, beer, and cocktails.

This boat tour is wheelchair accessible.

Tickets are non-refundable. Should you not be able to attend, the full price of unused tickets may be treated as a donation to Open House New York and is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
