Archi Film Nights x Sculptform Design Studio
Event Information
About this event
A series of explorations, episodes and comments on creativity by Saul Bass, a master of conceptual design, this film is one of the most highly regarded short films ever produced. Humour, satire and irony are combined with serious questions about the creative process and how it comes into play for different individuals.
Released in 1968, ‘Why man creates’ won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject and in 2002, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
Organized into eight major sections, the Edifice, Fooling Around, the Process, Judgement, a Parable, Digression, the Search, and the Mark, Why Man Creates is an exploration of the creative problem-solving approach.
