Join the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (LCMM) archaeology faculty for an exciting week-long workshop on archaeology! We are hosting a five-day teacher training in the interdisciplinary field of archaeology and its usefulness in classrooms. This workshop will introduce basic methodologies and concepts of the archaeological field and provide lesson plans pertaining to these topics. Participants will also have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and create their own lesson plans.

Among skills gained and concepts explored during this professional development will be:

  • Exciting ways to teach traditional school subjects using archaeology
  • Archaeological Discovery Methods
  • Archaeological Documentation and Conservation Methods
  • Publication and Outreach Methods
  • Archaeological Resources available in the Champlain Valley and beyond

When: July 31-August 4, 2017, 8 am - 5 pm

Where: Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, Ferrisburgh, Vermont

Cost: $1,150.00

3 Credits

Includes tuition, classroom and laboratory fees, breakfast and lunch during program, and field trip travel costs. Credit available through Castleton University.
