Description

Aquaponics Operation & Maintenance will cover:

  • Food safety considerations for small-scale aquaponics
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly tasks
  • pH testing, considerations, and adjustment options
  • Addressing commons problems and troubleshooting
  • How and when to clean your system
  • Achieving optimal plant growth
  • Managing your system through the seasons
  • HANDS-ON! Vacuum-siphon demonstration
  • HANDS-ON! Water testing demonstration

Participants will receive a fact sheet with all relevant information.

Mon & Weds classes run from 6pm to 7pm, Q&A to follow. Sat & Sun classes run from 9am to 10, Q&A to follow.

The Course is led by Brian Filipowich, Director of Anacostia Aquaponics and Chair of the national Aquaponics Association. Class takes place on Cultivate the City's rooftop farm, above W.S. Jenk's & Sons' Hardware Store.

This class is part of the Small-Scale Aquaponics Training Course, geared towards aquaponic systems of 30 to 500 gallons.
