AQFF in Morgantown
Sat, April 29, 2017, 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM EDT
This spring, the Appalachian Queer Film Festival is hitting the road -- in addition to our regular festival in October, we're hosting our inaugural travelling film screening in Morgantown, West Virginia. Four years later, our mission remains the same -- we work to open hearts and minds inside and outside of Appalachia. We are overjoyed at this opportunity to once again bring queer film to our home state of West Virginia.
We're hosting a jam-packed night of queer film and candid conversations in partnership with the West Virginia University Film Society. Come see the Travis Mathews's Berlin-premiered Discreet - a film Variety has described as "perhaps the first queer film to directly address the subject of alt-right influence on outside identity in Middle America." The director will be on site to participate in a talkback after the film!
In addition to Discreet, we will be screening the short film Bayard & Me by Matt Wolf, which documents the long term interracial, intergenerational, same sex relationship between the organizer of the March on Washington and his partner.
Stay after for a panel discussion and dance party -- more details forthcoming!
As always, we remain committed to financial accessibility -- attendees who present a student ID at the door will gain entry for free.
Tickets are going fast! Reserve your spot today and support the warming of hearts and opening of minds inside and outside of Appalachia.
