Session Overview

In a successful civil servant career spanning over 29 years, John has worked within the Executive and Judicial Branches of state government. John started his state career as an analyst and through hard work and determination worked his way into executive management and leadership positions. Through a highly interactive hour, John will share his perspectives on what has helped him stay competitive, his successes ­ his failures, and the real life sacrifices that come with moving up the career ladder. Along with his Golden Rules of Career Advancement, Mr. Wordlaw will discuss key areas of government that all future leaders need to understand. Get ready, this is a session you will not want to miss!

Keynote Speaker

John Wordlaw is the Judicial Council’s Chief Administrative Officer, directing the council’s Administrative Division, effective December 1, 2016. Mr. Wordlaw oversees operations for Budget Services, Branch Accounting and Procurement, Facilities Services, and Human Resources.

Mr. Wordlaw’s public service career spans more than 29 years. He previously served as the Chief Deputy Director of the Office of Systems Integration within the Health and Human Services Agency, where he was responsible for strategic policy planning. His extensive experience includes leadership responsibilities in government policymaking, collaborations with various state agencies, as well as budget, human resources, and information technology operations.
