Event description

Description

Part of Maine Farmland Trust's book club series, dig deeper into our food and farm systems with MFT staff and fellow members! April's book is Farming While Black by Leah Penniman. You can join the discussion in person at MFT’s Fiore Art Center in Jefferson on April 16, or tune in to an online discussion from wherever you are on May 1!

Online Lunch & Learn
Friday, May 1, noon-1pm

Join us for a remote version of our book club! Grab a cup of tea and your lunch and log in as we discuss the broad themes of Farming While Black with MFT staff and other members. Haven’t had a chance to read Farming While Black? No problem. We’ll also be sharing some articles and shorter readings that will help to inform this conversation. Please RSVP for instructions on how to join the Zoom meeting and for optional pre-reading articles.

Want a deeper dive into the topic of how our food system intersects with racial equity? Join MFT in participating in Food Solutions New England’s 21-day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge. The challenge is simple: we (along with thousands of others across the country) commit to deepening our understanding of and willingness to confront racism for 21 consecutive days. At the very least, the Challenge will raise our awareness. But for many participants, it goes beyond that and changes the way they see and interact with the world. Learn more about the challenge & sign up HERE.
