Event description

Description

As employers, we are increasingly worried about recruiting and retaining quality, skilled workers, and economists warn of a widening skills gap.

One answer might be to grow your own workforce through early talent development or an apprenticeship program—that age-old worker-training model that pairs on-the-job training with classroom instruction. It just may be the solution you are looking for!

In partnership with Michigan Works! Southwest and the U.S. Department of Labor please join us at Glen Oaks Community College in the Dresser Business Development Center for an introductory course into Apprenticeships and Talent Development.

Today's apprenticeships aren't just for the trades industry; apprenticeships are available in 1,500 occupations across 170 industries. Businesses of all sizes and sectors can have an apprenticeship program and they can last from 12 months to four years.

During our time together, Michigan Works! Southwest and the U.S. Department of Labor will provide information on how to set up and operate a registered apprenticeship program or modify an existing program to best fit your needs. In the U.S., a formal system of registered apprenticeship is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. Companies register their program with the department’s Office of Apprenticeship, and, in return, the government issues a nationally recognized certificate to workers at the company who complete an apprenticeship.

Be a part of growing your future workforce and learn about more about these opportunities right here in Southwest Michigan.
