Apprenticeship Briefing with U.S. Department of Labor
Event Information
Description
The U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship offers a number of important programs and supports aimed at developing a skilled workforce. For example, they have developed a certificate program that gives those who complete apprenticeship programs a transferable credential that signals their skills. They partner with states, colleges, employers and others to offer high-quality work-based learning and postsecondary earn-and-learn opportunities. They are also very interested in expanding their presence in secondary schools, helping transform how high schools can promote career readiness.
Learning First Alliance members are invited to join representatives of the Department of Labor to learn more about what they are doing and why they are doing it, and to consider how your organizations might get involved in this important work.
Representatives from the Department of Labor will include:
John Ladd, Administrator, Office of Apprenticeship
Daniel Villao, Deputy Administrator, Office of Apprenticeship
Laura Ginsburg, Division Chief, Office of Apprenticeship
Amy Firestone, Ph.D., Program Analyst, Office of Apprenticeship
