About the Workshop:
The Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) workshop is QM's flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the process of using the QM Rubric to review online courses. This whole day workshop will explore the QM Project and Processes and prepare you to be part of an initiative that positively impacts the design of online and blended courses and ultimately, student learning and success.

Quality Matters is designed to improve the quality of online and blended courses by establishing a peer-reviewed quality assurance review process. In this workshop, you will become familiar with QM standards and participate in a practice peer review of an online course using the review tools. Additionally, you will gain pratical ideas to improve your own courses using QM Rubric Standards.

Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify the underlying principles of QM. (Recognize key QM underlying principles and concepts.)
  • Identify the critical elements of the QM quality assurance program, including the QM Rubric, materials, processes, and administrative components.
  • Apply the 5th QM Rubric to review online courses.
  • Make decisions on whether the SPCH 1113 course meets selected QM Rubric standards.
  • Apply the concept of alignment.
  • Write helpful recommendations for course improvement by citing annotations from the QM Rubric and evidence from the course.

The APPQMR is the prerequisite for the Peer Reviewer Course, which is the required course to become a QM Peer Reviewer. It is intended for a broad audience, including, but not limited to, faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors.

Participants must arrive on time and stay for the duration of the workshop in order to earn a Certificate of Completion.

An APPQMR Workshop folder will be provided, including the 5th Edition of the QM Rubric.
