Event description

Description

Whether your child is building on strengths or demonstrating continued improvement, junior year of high school matters when it comes to college admissions. Many schools require that letters of recommendation come from 11th-grade teachers. Test prep, college visits, and more advanced coursework kick in for the first time or intensify. As you plan for your child's college admissions experience, Eva Ostrum, a former Yale admissions officer and lifelong educator, can help.

Eva provides college admissions counseling that supports students in putting their best foot forward, while at the same time reducing stress and making the process manageable. By the end of three hours working interactively with Eva, your child will learn to

  • Identify and navigate opportunities and pitfalls of junior year;

  • Execute a strategy for standardized testing that optimizes performance while minimizing stress;

  • Make key decisions about extracurriculars and present them for maximum impact;

  • Select teachers to write recommendations that make a difference;

  • Understand what "fit" means from a college's perspective and apply that understanding to developing a college list; and

  • Make an informed and strategic decision about whether to apply Early Action, Early Decision, or Regular Decision.

Unlike other methods that focus on packaging, branding, or simply “getting in,” Eva’s holistic approach highlights your child's strengths and identifies opportunities for a rich and rewarding college experience. Your child will leave the workshop with an individualized plan to approach the college admissions process with energy and confidence.

Registration will be limited to the first 10 respondents, so reserve your child's place now! A complimentary buffet breakfast will be served.
