This hands-on training program focuses on fundamentals of IV therapy and developing precise skills to insert and maintain peripheral catheters, prevention and management of complications.
Objectives include, vascular access device selection criteria, venous anatomy, catheter insertion site selection, methods to palpate and locate deep and difficult veins, age related considerations, equipment selection, PIV catheter insertion and troubleshooting technique, prevention and management of complications, and documentation Guidelines.
During the practice session, attendees palpate, locate and identify veins on each other; and practice PIV catheter insertion and troubleshooting technique on an advanced venipuncture training aid.
