The American Pops Orchestra has another exciting, action-packed season on the horizon. Season 4 has a record 10 shows on the docket: these shows are divided into three series: Mainstage, Family and Music & Mindfulness. The APO Season 4 Membership Package will allow you to receive discounted tickets to all ten shows of the season!

THE FINE PRINT

Plan A includes 25% off two (2) tickets to each show in the 2018-2019 Season.
Plan B includes 25% off any number of tickets to the shows and VIP afterparties.
Plan C includes 25% off any number of show tickets, and includes 2 free VIP after-party tickets per show. Additional after-party tickets can be purchased for 25% off.



MAINSTAGE SERIES:

Join APO for the biggest shows of the year! See stars of stage and screen join your favorite orchestra in celebrations of beloved American music in dynamic, original programming. Runtimes approx. 90 minutes.

You’ve Got a Friend: A Singer-Songwriter Celebration

The season will kickoff with You’ve Got a Friend: A Singer-Songwriter Celebration. This will be an evening of music by the greatest American singer-songwriters: James Taylor, Carol King, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and more. This will be a fresh, APO take on the songs that have woven the tapestry of American music in the classic singer-songwriter era.

NextGen: Finding the Voice of Tomorrow

Arena Stage Mead Center for American Theatre.
We are thrilled to announce the second annual vocal completion presented in conjunction with NSAL: NextGen: Finding the Voice of Tomorrow. After auditioning local students and young professionals (college through age 25), NextGen is the final round in which competitors perform with the APO jazz trio in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. Come hear the incredible talent and cast your vote for the winners!

Here and Now: The Music of Luther Vandross

An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

Join APO favorite, Hilary Morrow (known most recently for her role as Detective Fix in APO’s Around the World in 80 Days), in a madcap retelling of this classic children’s story. Watch as this old woman’s appetite for strange objects transforms her quiet afternoon into a wildly spectacular tale!



MUSIC & MINDFULNESS SERIES:

Join The American Pops in innovative yoga practices in the iconic Dupont Underground. Each practice will feature live music to create a peaceful backdrop as instructor Michael Peterson guides you on a journey through yoga and meditation. Practice I
October 21, 2018. 6pm.
Dupont Underground.
The first practice will be set to an interwoven soundscape of classic Broadway melodies in a contemporary and peaceful style. Come let songs from the stage set a stage for your continued growth in yoga and meditation.

Practice II
April 13, 2019. 6pm.
Dupont Underground.
This practice will feature early American folk music. Let these gentle, familiar tunes be the backdrop for reflecting on the importance of our past and letting it ground us as we look to the future.

Practice III
June 08, 2019. 6pm.
Dupont Underground.
The final practice will feature a musical tapestry of American singer-songwriters. Let the singers and the songs you know and love from Bob Dylan to the Plain White T’s create a peaceful landscape for energy and exploration.
