The Apex Games returns to Fluor Field on Saturday, October 11! Games will begin at noon, and athletes will start off in waves, with 4-5 athletes per wave.
Athletes may register in the following divisions:
- Apex Open
- Apex Competitive
- Apex Animal
- Apex Competitive Team (2-person, all-male or all-female)
- Apex Animal Team (2-person, all-male or all-female)
All athletes will compete on the same course, which will consist of up to 10 stations -- each followed by a short run. The open division will have lighetr weights or less reps/shorter distances. The ANIMAL division -- new this fall -- will follow a 2 minutes on/2 minutes off AMAP format through each station. Reps or distances will translate into points, and the athlete with the most points wins!
Station examples: deadlifts, farmer's walk, burpees, man-makers, cleans, kettlebell swings, box jumps, bear crawl, weighted lunges, weighted stair climbs, ground-to-overhead presses, push-ups, bench jump-overs, etc.
All Apex Open and Competitive athletes are required to submit a time for the Official Baseline Workout, and wave start times will be assigned accordingly.
Animal division athletes will not submit a basline time, but may request a late wave if they are shooting for a podium spot.
The top 3 finishers (male and female) in the Competitive Division will receive cash prizes up to $500! The top male and female will be crowned Fittest Man and Fittest Woman in the Upstate and be featured in an upcoming issue of Go Magazine.
ON Friday night, Oct. 10, the NEW Bodyweight Beast Challenge - presented by St. Francis Sports Medicine, will consist of 6 bodyweight exercise stations (pushups, burpees, situps, bear crawl, squats, walking lunges) with 2 laps of the warning track around Fluor Field between each station. The event will be held the evening of Friday, Oct. 10, at Fluor Field, with the Top-5 Men and Top-5 Women being invited back to Fluor Field on Saturday to compete for the championship during the Apex Games. Open to ages 12 and up.
Apex Kids, a new event sponsored by YMCA Greenville, will provide kids ages 6-14 with a safe, structured and fun introduction to functional fitness.
Registration fees are non-refundable. Transfers may be allowed in cases of injury, at the discretion of event director.
