Overview

Join us at Glyndebourne, East Sussex, to explore this year's theme of curation.

APAC's annual symposium will take place at Glyndebourne, Lewes, East Sussex.

This year's theme is curation and our speakers will explore how performing arts collections and individuals working with these collections approach the policy and practice of curation. We will also feature current and past projects that highlight new ideas and challenges in curation.

Please note that this is a hybrid event. If you are only attending online, please select the 'online only' ticket option.

If you require transport from Lewes Station to Glyndebourne, please be outside Lewes Station at 10.00am and the Glyndebourne staff mini bus will be able to assist.

From 10:30am - Tea and coffee / meet and greet in Ebert Room

11:00-11:05 - APAC Welcome

11:05-11:30 - Introduction to Glyndebourne and the Art & Collections programme

11:30-11:55 - Abigail Williams, V&A, The Making of the David Bowie Archive: David Bowie as Curator

11:55-12:20 - Dr Kate Dorney, University of Manchester, Curating absence and insisting on presence: curating performing arts exhibitions

12:20-12:50 - Lunch break and time to visit Fair Ground exhibition (Please bring a packed lunch as there are no food outlets in the immediate vicinity.)

12:50-13:15 - Vanessa Tothill, Sainsbury Centre For Visual Arts, University of East Anglia, Eyewitness Exhibition as part of the Can We Stop Killing Each Other? Season

13:15-13:40 - Dr Erin Lee, National Theatre, Curating the Greeks: learnings from an exhibition pilot

13:40-13:50 Break

13:50-14:15 - Patricia Akhimie and Verónica Betancourt, Folger Shakespeare Library, To Hear Her Speak (recorded presentation)

14:15-14:45 - Tour

14:45-15:00 - Round up and closing remarks

15:00 - Staff bus back to Lewes station for the 15.25pm train to London. Trains also depart from this station to Brighton.
