the Twentieth Anniversary of Atheists and Other Freethinkers,
one of Sacramento's original freethought organizations. Believe it, friend: AOF is two decades old this summer, 2013. How did we survive so long? We're as puzzled as you. But come help us celebrate the milestone anyway. The purpose is to honor you, our friends and our members, the ones who made it possible.
Expect the unexpected at this epic party. We're deep in our laboratories now, cackling to ourselves as we work out details. But festivities will include, at the least, musical interludes by the Mockingbirds, Sacramento's first atheist choir, and a gourmet buffet dinner by the fabulous Chef Tony of Headhunters.
- For meat eaters: Succulent chicken breast over rice bed, fresh green salad with dressing, flavorful green beans.
- For vegetarians: That, with a suitable vegan alternative to the chicken.
For all: Delicious Vegan cake from the Plum Cafe and Bakery, spice cake for non-vegans, and an afternoon of reminiscence about AOF, its history, how it started, how it grew, the best moments and worst, and where it will (may) go from here.
Penny-wise folk can also register by mail, avoiding the miniscule service fee, with a check to AOF, sent to: PO Box 15182, Sacramento, CA 95851-0182. (Please specify, vegetarian or regular meal.) The receipt deadline is Thursday, June 6.
Either way, sign up now. OK to bring friends of course. But no tickets will be sold at the door, and space is limited, and going fast ...
When & Where
Atheists and Other Freethinkers
The purpose of Atheists and Other Freethinkers is to promote the civic understanding of atheism and the acceptance of atheists in our community. Through educational programs, projects, and publications, AOF will extend secular perspectives, including the separation of religion and government and the right to think and speak freely on these perspectives.
