Anxiety: What's Normal, What's Not and What To Do About It

This presentation is designed to help parents, educators and interested community members
increase their understanding of anxiety, how it can affect our students, when intervention is
needed, and how families can help. Specific anxiety disorders will be discussed as well as
anxiety that may not meet diagnostic criteria but is commonly seen in young people.
Featured speaker: Alison P. Block, Ph. D.
Dr. Block is a licensed psychologist and the Director of the Health Psychology Center in
Little Silver, New Jersey. In her private practice Dr. Block works with many children, adolescents,
and adults with anxiety disorders, depression, academic concerns, relationship problems,
ADHD, and other challenges. She is also the Director of the Psychosocial Curriculum for the
Department of Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center and a Clinical Instructor in Medicine at
Drexel University Medical School.
