The purpose of this learning event is to provide training to staff throughout the unit to manage and understand the 7 types of anxiety and to develop strategies for use at home, school and with peers to cope in all settings. This workshop is designed to engage learner with case studies, modelling and role-playing to assist in discovering new interventions and practical techniques you can immediately use with students.
Learning Objectives: *Apply the "Three Ingredients" template for understanding how, why, and when anxiety develops in children. *Recognize and modify the sources of stress in children and adolescents. *Explain the anxiety management skills to use with young clients. *Identify effective treatment strategies for each of the seven key anxiety disorders. *Identify steps that schools can take to reduce student anxiety. *Apply self regulation skills and strategies to children.
