Event description

Description

We are so excited to finally host Antje Duvekot on Saturday October 19th. I don't think she has ever been in Seekonk but she certainly is no stranger to us. I have seen her solo countless times as well appearing with some Patti's Place favorites like Adam Ezra , Martyn Joseph, Ellis Paul to name a few. And this fall she is bringing a special guest Korby Lenker from Nashville with her. Korby Lenker is an engaging and funny performer (author and actor too) and this is really like getting a two for one deal. Some of my favorite memories from any music event I've attened are from shows when performers help each other out and you ( they) never really know what will happen next and I expect this evening to be no different. One of a kind night for sure.. I'm including some press about both performers below but please do check their websites to see ALL the good things said about them and ALL the wonderful projects they are working on.

Duvekot has gotten hotter, faster than any local songwriter in recent memory. Her songs feel at once fresh faced and firmly rooted, driven by the whispery sensuality of her voice. She believes in the redemptive power of the shared secret; and is utterly unafraid to mine the darkest corners of her life for songs that turn fear into resilience and isolation into community". The Boston Globe

Antje has won some of the top songwriting awards including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious, Kerrville (TX) "Best New Folk Award" and in one of the nation's top music markets, she won the Boston Music Award for "Outstanding Folk Act", three of the top prizes in the singer songwriter world.

His live shows swing between a whisper and a shout, prompting tastemaker roots mag No Depression to note: "One of the most striking things about seeing Lenker perform is his relationship with his guitar. He doesn't just play it, he becomes it - or, maybe, it becomes a part of him.”

Among other things, Lenker is funny. For evidence, look no further than his video Unfortunate Peer Review, in which his friends (luminaries like Rodney Crowell, Kenneth Pattengale from the Milk Carton Kids, Mary Gauthier and many more) lovingly skewer Lenker’s music and personality
