Event description

Description

PROJECT LANDING PAGE HERE.

After nearly 10 years in the Fashion District of Downtown Los Angeles, Think Tank Gallery has a brand new location in Little Tokyo with a focus on experimental, immersive environments. For its first solo concept production, they have invited neon artist and sculptor Ginger Q to imbue their 2700sqft of industrial space with a moody, transformative ecosystem of light, sound, and introspection.

Antibodies will be the local fabricator’s largest solo project to date, and will reimagine the layout of the DTLA venue, converting its very infrastructure – lighting, pathways, and wayfinding signage – into a narrative that reimagines our navigation of modern social structures. This newfound approach to societal navigation does not actively destroy norms, but rather builds pathways out of their imminent ruins.

Just as antibodies protect and heal our biological forms, Ginger’s project of the same name protects all peoples from a national gut biome that has long been in need of an insightful transplant. Playing on the term, Antibodies also recognizes our collective tendency to objectify certain bodies (often at the subconscious expense of others), by presenting a new look on body acceptance with application to biological systems of natural healing.

Antibodies represents an attempt to scale this biological analogy, an evolved understanding which all people carry in our DNA, to a level of national comprehension. Ginger’s approach to environmental creation touches the infrastructure of the environment itself as her cohesive presentation overtakes the building like a healing agent injected directly into its bloodstream. No guests will leave the experience without bringing this “body’s” healing outside with them, into their everyday lives.
