Event description

Description

The Metropolitan New York Synod is committed to confronting the sin of racism and dismantling the personal and systemic walls that divide, hurt and oppress God’s children. In 2015, the Synod Assembly adopted a resolution committing to training as many people in our synod as possible in anti-racism, including all of our rostered and lay ministers. MNYS hosted four trainings in 2016. In 2017, we will continue to offer introductory anti-racism trainings, beginning this fall with a training on October 21. Registration is encouraged for those who have yet to attend a training but is also open to those who would like to deepen their engagement by attending a second time.

The MNYS will be offering one additional Introductory training in 2017-2018, as well as two trainings focused on Internalized Racism. Internalized Racism occurs when people of color internalize the cultural messages and distortions of racism and, from an early age, learn behaviors that perpetuate it. These trainings will be in English and in Spanish. Please stayed tuned to www.mnys.org for dates and locations of those workshops.
