Anti-Hate Teach-in Series
Wed, May 17, 2017, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT
We (Amaranto Arts Collective, CERRU, Campus Coalition for Inclusion, Hillel, Michael Harrington Center, Muslim Student Association, SEEK, SODA, and TAFT Institute for Government) vehemently feel that during this time in history it is important for all of us to work together in our capacities to stop the spread of intolerance and hate. We will be offering semester long programming to provide students and community members with accessible stories and histories of ordinary courageous organizing in the face of racism, sexism, imperialism, ableism, nationalism and so forth.
Sessions will include (1) a history of, (2) know your rights component, and (3) information about organizing current issues as legislation changes.
Participants who attend at least 6 of the sessions, and write a short reflective piece (two-pages), will earn a certificate of completion for our Social Movement Seminar.
We will send out announcements before each. The series will occur on Wednesdays from 4-7pm in Powdermaker Hall 119 (Queens College).
FREE PIZZA at each session.
