Event description
Maximize your learning on anti-adultism and equity to help create authentic youth-adult partnerships.

About this Event

What is adultism?

Adultism is defined as prejudice toward and discrimination against children and younger adults. It refers to all attitudes and actions that flow from the idea that older adults are superior to young people and always more knowledgeable. These attitudes are embedded in institutions, customs, child rearing practices, and relationships between young people and adults. Conscious and subconscious adultism influence the way we provide services, interpret youth input, and relate to young leaders.

Training Objectives

This interactive learning session aims to deepen participants' understanding of adultism and equity. Participants will learn how to recognize adultism in the youth homelessness response system and how to create an environment (internal/external) that is inclusive and fosters youth collaboration.

Facilitated by True Colors United , this learning session is intended for community agencies working with homeless youth and young adults. Youth are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
