Description

What's wrong with this picture?

The girl in the picture above belongs in the classroom. Walking long distances to fetch water cuts into classroom time especially for girls who often are given the chore of collecting water each day for the family.

Would you like to help her and other children in a similar situation?

Water is Life and in conjunction with U.N. World Water Day on March 22, 2020 the Tanzanian Children’s Project with support from the Knights of Columbus Columbia Council 7559 is hosting its 11th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Fundraiser. Net proceeds from this event will be used to install a water well in a rural village in Ushetu, Tanzania.

So, bring out your Irish gather up your family and friends and join us for an evening of Traditional Irish Music, dance, food, drink, auctions, raffles, fun and friendship. Precious Heritage Band will perform along with dancers from the Broesler School of Irish Dance.

The price of a ticket includes a traditional Irish dinner of corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, dessert, and beverages. Beer, wine and Patrick Murphy's Irish coffee will be available, a donation being requested in lieu of payment.

The Tanzanian Children's Project is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit founded in 2009 in Columbia, Maryland. We support health, education, sanitation, and water well projects in underserved communities in Tanzania. To date it has donated more than $160,000 to finance the following projects:

  • construction of an ouptpatient medical dispensary including the purchase of medical equipment and supplies, the installation of solar panels, and six months of start up salaries for the staff

  • payment of tuition and administrative fees for three years for eight young adult (previously orphaned) students to attend a vocational training school,

  • upgrade toilet facilities, purchase supplies, musical instruments, and pay for teacher salaries at Stella Matutina Catholic primary school located in the Ushetu district

  • funding the startup of a self-sustaining women's coop which purchases and resells solar powered lanterns,

  • two water wells one each in Mizirayo village and in Nyasa village both located in the Ushetu district.

If you can't attend you can still make a difference by making a donation to help bring Life Giving Water to those in need of a clean, sustainable, and continuous source of water.
