Event Details

Laissez Les Bons Temp Rouler!!! Yes it's a Mardi Gras celebration at our Annual Western Gala on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at the George R. Brown Convention Center Hall B3. Our premier event will honor companies demonstrating distinguished leadership and accomplishments in the area of community involvement. Put on your best western wear, mardi gras attire or party attire and get ready to party all night long with the Black Heritage Super Krewe!

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ promotes agriculture by providing a family-friendly live entertainment experience that educates the public, supports Texas youth, and showcases Western heritage. The Black Heritage Committee was organized over 25 years ago to promote the Show in the African-American community through awareness and participation while highlighting the pioneer and Western heritage of black individuals in Houston and throughout the state.

Since its beginning in 1932, the Show has committed more than $430 million to the youth of Texas. Our members’ efforts help provide funds for college scholarships while celebrating the annual Black Heritage Day on the grounds during the Show. We invite you to help further the mission by investing in the futures of young Texans. Many students have returned to tell us what a critical part our scholarship awards have played in their lives, several of which are now members of our historic committee.

The return on your investment is rewarding, but the long-term benefits to our city and state are priceless. Together, we can do our part to further the education of future Texan leaders. Currently, more than 2,000 students are on Show scholarships, attending more than 80 different Texas colleges and universities. The value of these scholarships is approximately $47 million.

We also invite you to come out during the Show and enjoy Black Heritage Day on Friday, Mar. 1, 2019 at NRG Park.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ is a Section 501(c)3 charitable organization. The amount of the contribution that may be deductible for federal income tax purposes is the excess value contributed by the donor over the value of the goods or services received. Consult your tax professional for more information/eligibility.
