Join us for a special evening with two contemporary composers in our library at the Philosophical Research Society: Mikal Cronin and Annie Hart!

ANNIE HART

Annie Hart is a New York City-based composer, songwriter, and performer. She made her name with David Lynch favorites and Twin Peaks alums, indie synth trio Au Revoir Simone, and is now deep into a swift-moving solo career. Her minimal pop songs explore the fringes of new wave, pop, and ambient music; and have been called “sumptuous synth-pop’ by Vogue and “gloriously effervescent” by Bandcamp’s New and Notable. Her minimal ambient works are released on the legendary Orindal records and feature analog synthesizers and mallet percussion.

Her distinct use of analog synthesizers has led her to a busy film scoring career. She completed the prestigious ASCAP/Columbia University Film Scoring Workshop where she won the 2023 Henry Mancini Film Scoring Fellowship.

Annie continues to break boundaries by composing music for patient listeners in her own distinctive self-taught style. She’s received grants to compose chamber music with free live performances in NYC public parks. She also live-scored several sold-out runs of dance theater performances with Weena Pauly and Katie Workum . Comedian and producer Fred Armisen brought her on tour in the US and UK.
