Event description
TCS will present an encore performance of “Annelies,” the first major choral work that tells the story of The Diary of Anne Frank.

About this Event

“The Thomas Circle Singers is an outstanding choir which performs to the highest standards of artistry… the ensemble creates a first class choral sound and performs with advanced musicianship skills as well as with technical mastery.” James Whitbourn

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Anne Frank and the 75th anniversary of her last entry in her diary, TCS will present an encore performance of “Annelies,” the first major choral work that tells the story of The Diary of Anne Frank. James Whitbourn’s dramatic music brings to life the harrowing events enfolding in Anne’s life, all thoughtfully portrayed in Melanie Challenger’s libretto. This special performance will be enhanced by a variety of media to help the audience, see, hear, and feel this incredible story of ordinary people living during extraordinarily terrible times.

Of its 2014 Washington premiere of the work, the Washington Post wrote “Under the direction of conductor James Kreger, the chorus did its job admirably. Balances were good, pitch was exemplary, diction and instrumental clarity sparkled.”
