Event description

This webinar will cover common employment law issues faced by nonprofits and discuss some easily implemented precautionary measures to address such issues. The webinar will focus primarily on federal law, with discussions of state law in areas in which there is sufficient continuity of law across the states. Areas of focus will include the distinction between independent contractors and employees (and why it matters), the importance of a well-drafted employee handbook, and employee hiring and firing.

Professor Eric Franklin earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from Cornell Law School. He joined the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law in 2013 after completing the Whiting Fellowship at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Prior to entering academia, Professor Franklin spent over five years in transactional private practice in Palo Alto and Seattle. He directs the Small Business & Nonprofit Legal Clinic and teaches Business Planning, Business Organizations, and Contracts.

This session is free for ANN members. Non-member price = $10.00
