Event description

Description

How can we build empathy in our students for events that happened long ago? Connecting with primary sources, like maps, oral histories, images, and archives can help students get excited about history. An author describes how they approach historical research and their method for transforming research into a piece of art. Finally, we’ll help you create your own historical fiction project using our collection of oral histories of men and women who worked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard during WWII.

Brooklyn Historical Society is an approved provider of CTLE credits. Participating teachers will receive five (5) hours of CTLE credit for their participation. Lunch and breakfast will be served.
