Event description

Description

Sponsored by King County Zone 3 CERT and open only to CERT members. You membership will be verified.

Come participate in an introductory lecture on rescuing animals from disasters. This discussion will go over some basic issues to consider before rescuing animals, including safety, legalities, providing basic needs during your care, and returning, adopting, or releasing the animal after the emergency.

People’s pets and livestock are impacted by disasters on a regular basis. While many people say that they would never leave their animals, circumstances may not give them the privilege to make a choice . This leaves local citizens, rescue groups, and authorities to come up with a plan on how to capture and care for displaced animals. This basic overview will discuss the initial actions on capturing animals and some of the considerations needed to take action.
