Workshop Description

This workshop will benefit those front line professionals who work with children and adolescents who are at-risk and have been referred for evaluation of suspected animal abuse as well as those convicted of animal cruelty. Participants will learn how to conduct an assessment of clients with various presenting problems involving animal abuse and how to integrate appropriate treatment with other interventions.

  The Animals and Society Institute is a nonprofit, independent research and educational organization that advances the status of animals in public policy and promotes the study of human-animal relationships. The ASI seeks to advance institutional change for animals by helping to establish the moral and legal rights fundamental to a just, compassionate and peaceful society.

 About the Presenters

 Dr. Gupta has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia. She is the Executive Director of Ahimsa House, a Georgia based Non-Profit that provides statewide services to help human and animal victims of domestic violence reach safety together. Dr. Gupta serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Animal Cruelty Advisory Council of the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.

 

Dr. Bell has a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Walden University. For more than ten years, Dr. Bell has spoken nationally and trained mental health professionals in utilizing the AniCare Approach as well as educating other audiences and creating awareness about the link between animal abuse and human violence. Dr. Bell is a passionate activist for  animal rights as well as being a published author.

Continuing Education Credits Available for a $10 processing fee

 Licensed mental health providers (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT can receive 6.5 Continuing Education Credits through the Family Justice Center of Hillsborough County- Provider #50-7820 (expires 3/2013).

 Training Cancellation Policy:

 It is the policy of Family Justice Center of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Sexual Abuse Intervention Network (SAIN) that a training credit will be made for cancellations made a minimum of 24 hours prior to the event.

 No refund or training credit will be issued for those cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance of the start of the event.
