Event description
Learn about Cambodian 1960s and 70s pop and rock music and conduct research with the elders in our community!

About this Event

Geared toward young Cambodian Americans (18-30), this class is set as an active and collaborative project to learn about and document the 1960s and early 70s Cambodian pop and rock music. Students learn about the different musical styles, about the main singers and popular bands of the time while gaining practical research skills. Through this collaboration between Angkor Dance Troupe and Tufts University, students get to document how older members of the community in Lowell remember about Cambodian pop and rock music from the 1960s. As students listen and discuss old pop and rock music with their relatives or close family friends, they contribute to gather knowledge about this music genre and take action to preserve knowledge about the musical heritage of the Cambodian American community of Lowell. Make a positive difference while learning!
