Law Enforcement personnel experience various emotions throughout their day and the significant role emotions play in their lives and in their decision making is well documented. This class focuses specifically on one emotion: anger. The class normalizes this emotion and discusses its benefits, while also highlighting the negative impact and serious consequences of poor anger management. Personnel will learn how mismanaged anger adversely impacts themselves, their organization, and the communities they serve. The class reviews common situations that can provoke anger and also emphasizes and empowers law enforcement personnel to take control of their emotions and be accountable for their emotional reactions. Personnel will be provided with multiple tools and skills to assist in meeting this goal. Examples of tools and skills include identifying anger triggers, ABC cognitive tool, positive self-talk, recognizing warning signs of anger and healthy communication.
