Andrew Scotchie & The River Rats formed in Asheville NC around early 2011 as a street busking project. Jumpstarted from several songs written Asheville NC native, Andrew Scotchie, The River
Rats have evolved from a stripped down guitar/harmonica duo to 5 piece rock soul and blues band with a fiery live show and a horn section to top it all off.
Andrew and the Rats have been sharing the stage with national acts such as Sonny Landreth, Big Sams Funky Nation and Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds and been featured at staple music festivals such as Bristol Rythym and Roots, Columbia Blues Festival, Awendawe Green and Asheville Barnaroo.
In Aug 2015 Andrew Scotchie and the River Rats were voted the NUMBER ONE rock band to see in WNC by mountain Xpress Magazine readers In May of 2014, the River Rats won the Charlotte NC Music Awards Blues Showcase that gets put on every year and the band flew out to LA that Nov to perform and accept their award Andrew Scotchie and the River Rats are the 2013 Asheville NC battle of the bands winners and the 2012 Montreat College Battle of the Bands winners The band is best described as Funkin’ Rock Soul and blues with a southern twist. A growing repertoire, a dedicated fan base and an energetic live show has this band poised for national take over
Kettle Black is a quiet dance, a tiny explosion expanding exponentially; it is funky, heartfelt, and unmistakably New Orleans. The brainchild of Mumbles alum, Keith Burnstein, along with members of Toubab Krewe and Antibalas, the band is a double percussion discussion that fans out the African and Cuban influences found in New Orleans music to create a new American songbook.
