About this Event

All Start times are in Eastern Standard Time (EST).

All of the proceeds from the virtual tour experiences, will go towards keeping our guides employed and paying the wages of our dedicated staff, while on lockdown. We greatly appreciate your support in these unprecedented times as we work towards seeing you back in Europe soon.

What is a Virtual Guided Tour? It is not virtual reality. It is a licensed guide led webinar packed with photos, videos, polls and a fully interactive chat function which makes this anything but a lecture video. There is also a live Q&A at the end satisfying all your questions about Pompeii. Whether you’ve never been abroad or spent every summer in Italy, enjoy this exciting, interactive experience from the comfort of your home.

Just outside of Naples in Southern Italy, there exists a place frozen in the moment of its own destruction. Leveled in 79 A.D. by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii stands today as one of the most fascinating ancient ruins found anywhere in the world. On this 60-minute tour you’ll receive:

-An hour-long virtual experience of Pompeii

-An English-speaking expert, licensed to give tours of Pompeii

-Have all your questions answered with a live Q&A with your guide

If you’d like to show your appreciation for your guide, might we recommend purchasing an additional guest spot on your tour. All the additional proceeds go directly to your guide!

A City Frozen in Time

In Roman history, the year 79 A.D. is one of the most consequential. This was when the great Flavian stadium, the Colosseum, was built. Along with this great glory came tragedy when on August 24th, the volcano Vesuvius erupted. The subsequent fire and ash destroyed everything in its path, particularly the coastal town of Pompeii, where nearly 20,000 people lived their lives. Thousands died in the eruption, many of whom were flash-burned into the ashen figures that are still in Pompeii to this day. They are some of the most well-preserved of any victims of a historical catastrophe of this sort. This makes the town a fascinating tour, a virtual glimpse into the lives that used to live there, and the tragic moments that brought them to a close. With your expert guide, you’ll explore the houses, stadiums and markets that used to thrive with life nearly 2000 years ago.
