Event description

Description

Do you have East Asian objects in your collection? Would you like to develop confidence in working with your collection? Would you like to learn the basics of identifying Chinese, Japanese and Korean objects and designs?

This workshop aims to develop participants’ confidence in identifying whether objects are from China, Japan or Korea by exploring the unique characteristics of each country’s material culture, including textiles, ceramics, metalwork, lacquer and works on paper, as well as commonly found motifs, designs and symbolism.

Individuals either directly employed by, or volunteering with, a museum organisation in Scotland, who can demonstrate the benefit of the training to their organisation’s collections, are eligible to apply for a place on any of our advertised courses. Priority will be given to partners of the Ancient Egypt and East Asia National Programme.

This training is supported by the National Lottery, through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
