Event description

Description

Are you an educator or maybe an NYU engineering student? Come join Ultimaker at NYU Tandon's Makerspace for an evening of 3D Design using the cloud-based CAD program Onshape.

Founded by the creators of Solidworks®, Onshape allows you to design, version, and share parts, assemblies, and drawings from anywhere. Take advantage of parametric 3D modeling, associative 2D drawings, top-down design with multi-part modeling, and in-context editing, and learn how to use curves and surfacing tools to create organic shapes.

Onshape is free for education, and it runs on any device, including Chromebooks. It is the first CAD system built for teams. Students can work in groups and edit models together simultaneously. Teachers can distribute assignments, review work and give feedback with ease. Additionally, Onshape keeps a complete history of changes so students will never accidentally lose work or overwrite each other's data.

Whether you've used the program, or not, everyone is welcomed to attend this session where Onshape expert, David Katzman, will show you how to get started with modern CAD and 3D printing and answer your questions. You'll see what's possible and learn how to design a cool part all the way to being ready for your 3D printer.
