Event description

Description

Our next pop-up is a monologue writing workshop hosted by playwright and theatre instructor Jennifer Schaupp!

This creative workshop will allow you to delve inside the mind of a person you admire. You will first write a short monologue from the perspective of your character at a crucial moment in the character's life. You will then rehearse speaking the monologue, so you can embody your character with ease for family and friends during the reading. Point Park University students in writing, film, and theatre will be available to offer tips and support!

The workshop and rehearsal itself will run from 1-3 PM - we encourage parents and guardians to return at 3 PM to watch the writers perform their monologue in a small show!

For the workshop, please bring in biographical information about a famous figure (deceased, perhaps someone who died before you were born) from any time period, country, or field - entertainment, science, law, etc. Also, if you want, you can bring in a costume piece, accessory, or prop that makes you feel like your character!

Girls Write Pittsburgh is a local organization dedicated to inspiring youth to find their voices through writing. This pop-up workshop is free and open to all non-binary and girl-identifying teens between the ages of 13 to 18.
