Event description
The Norwegian Embassy in Copenhagen and Biotech North invite you to participate in our matchmaking webinar on marine life science and biotec

About this event

The corona crisis has shown how crucial the life science industry is. It creates enormous value for both our health and for the economy. It is also the life science industry that will get the world back on its feet after the pandemic has brought the world to its knees. The industry will do so primarily through vaccines and treatments, but also through economic growth, job creation and international partnerships.

Norway is an Arctic Ocean nation, which is reflected in the Norwegian life science industry. Northern Norway is one of the most biologically diverse marine environments in the entire world. Many of the organisms in this area have had to adapt to be able to survive in cold, harsh environments, leading to the development of cold-adapted properties. These unique properties provide a broad range of utilities, especially in industries where materials have to stay very cold such as biomedicine and pharmaceuticals.

In this webinar, a few selected northern Norwegian companies in the cluster Biotech North will show how they put these marine resources to novel use:

ArcticZymes Technologies ASA has a long history dating back to the late 1980s. Based in Tromsø, Northern Norway, they use access to the marine Arctic to identify new cold-adapted enzymes for use in molecular research, in vitro diagnostics and therapeutics.

Marbio is an analytical platform at the University of Tromsø - for screening, isolation and identification of bioactive natural products / molecules. Marbio prepares and screens fraction libraries from extracts provided by Marbank and provides technology and competence within the area of high-throughput screening and natural products drug discovery.

Marealis AS is a Norwegian marine biotechnology company focusing on the development and commercialization of natural health products from marine peptides.

The webinar is intended to be a meeting place where Norwegian and Danish stakeholders in the life science industry can make contact and explore opportunities for collaboration. Therefore, the webinar will feature an extended Q&A followed by a final matchmaking session where it is possible to meet in smaller, virtual breakout groups.
