Event description

Description

*The workshop will start at 6:30 but if you want to play around with blush then please feel free to come at 6:00

Are you fascinating by the beauty of Chinese characters and want to learn more?
This workshop is especially suitable for people who are studying Japanese and/or Mandarin and artists who are interested in the aesthetic quality of the Chinese characters.

During this workshop we will give an introduction to the development of the Chinese writing system. The Chinese writing system has been around for over 4000 years and over that time the characters have gradually evolved into what we use today. In this course you will explore how that evolution took place.

You will also start learning how to read and write in Mandarin
(Also some Japanese Kanji) .
We will study some simple characters and you will learn how they are composed, their meaning and how to write them.

By the end of the workshop, you will have a basic foundation in the Chinese writing system which would be a great starting point to explore more deeply in future classes or workshops.

We highly recommend you to join our free Mandarin for absolute beginner course before you join this introduction :)
