About this event

Let's improve health and safety in our community with Positive Community Norms (PCN), an approach that promotes protective factors, increases healthy norms, and changes community cultures on issues including substance use, traffic safety, child maltreatment, youth suicide, and more. Learn more about PCN and the Science of the Positive framework on which it is based in this dynamic workshop. Come prepared to join in activities that will help shift our focus from what we are trying to prevent to what we are trying to grow in our community. Organizer Influence the Choice

Organizer of An Introduction to Positive Community Norms

The mission of Influence the Choice is promotion of mental, physical and social wellness for middle school through high school-aged youth in the greater Issaquah community.  We accomplish this mission through networking community resources and facilitating strategic action planning aimed at changing community norms.

Influence the Choice - Healthy Youth Healthy Community (ITC) is a prevention alliance working for a healthy, thriving community. It is comprised of a minimum of twelve community sectors: parents, youth, schools, business owners, medical professionals, government, media, faith-based organizations, organizations serving youth, civic or volunteer organizations and law enforcement, all working together to build a drug-free community. Influence the Choice was a recipient of a Drug Free Community grant for 2013 - 2018. In 2018, Influence the Choice was awarded a second (continuation) Drug Free Community federal grant, providing $125,000 for each of the next five years, 2018 through 2023.  Thanks to the City of Issaquah and the greater Issaquah community for supporting the grant application and our youth substance abuse prevention efforts.
