Event description
This live and interactive course is an introduction to grief and bereavement for psychotherapists and other mental health professionals.

About this Event

Bereavement and loss are universal experiences, but grief is unique to each person and their loss. In this course, you'll explore the broad range that constitutes normal and healthy grieving. We'll begin with a brief overview of the history of grief and bereavement research and theory before moving on to currently supported models. You'll learn symptoms of grief across the bio-psycho-social spectrum of experience, patterns and styles of grieving including their clinical implications, and how the tasks of mourning facilitate a healthy grief process in clients.

Attendees who complete this course will be able to:

• define and differentiate the terms bereavement, grief, and mourning.

• explain intuitive and instrumental patterns of grieving.

• list 6 or more symptoms of grief across the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, behavioral, and spiritual dimensions.

• discuss resilience in the context of grief.

• identify Worden's Four Tasks of Mourning in clinical examples.
