An Insider's View on Valuing Art with Peter Hastings Falk
Event Information
About this event
How is art valued? What should a buyer be aware of when looking at art prices? This must-attend seminar offers you an expert's insights into why one painting might be valued at $5,000 and another at $50,000.
In this seminar, Peter Hastings Falk will increase your understanding of art prices by referencing numerous works of art actually on view and for sale at the show.
How can you distinguish derivative works from those whose qualities present the greatest promise for lasting value? When only a small fraction of worthy artists can be found in auction price databases, how can one find comparable values?
Peter Hastings Falk is the Editor & Chief Curator of the online art magazine, Discoveries in American Art, with a mission to bring long-overdue recognition to lesser known artists. He is author and publisher of numerous art reference books, including the national award-winning three-volume, Who Was Who in American Art. An appraiser, expert witness and pioneer in documenting and publishing auction price results, he was also founding Editor-in-Chief of ArtNet, then served as Editor-in-Chief of AskArt, and, for the past 20 years, has been the U.S. Editor of Artprice.com.
Your ticket includes Reserved Seating for the seminar on Saturday and Show Admission to the 23rd Annual Boston International Fine Art Show anytime during weekend show hours: Friday October 25, 1-8pm, Saturday October 26, 11am-8pm, and Sunday October 27 11am-5pm. Don't miss it!
