Event description

Description

Every year, thousands of startups apply to Y Combinator, hoping to join the ranks of alumni like Dropbox, Airbnb, Stripe, and Reddit. But the application process is tough - 99% of applicants don’t get in.

But for accepted applicants, they get into a 3 month program that helps them develop their product, present at Demo Day, and join a community of expert alumni.

Thinking about applying? Then join us as Y Combinator alumni share their advice on

  • Tips for the application

  • What to expect in the interview

  • What to focus on when building your startup

  • The value of YC or other accelerators

  • The program and what to expect

  • And more!

About the panelists

  • Alana Branston is the CEO and cofounder of Bulletin (YC W17), a new retail concept that gives women-run merchants access to shelf space in their retail stores. Since launching in 2015, Bulletin has helped hundreds of digitally-native brands access physical retail space for the very first time, unlocking one of the most powerful commerce channels at their disposal. Before launching Bulletin, Alana was a sales executive at Contently.
  • Keenan D. Williams is the Co-founder & President of REZI (W17). REZI helps landlords find high quality, long-term tenants in 48 hours. They use proprietary technology, analytical tools and financial products to improve the rental experience for landlords and tenants alike. Prior to launching REZI, Keenan was the AVP at Auction, where he worked on partnerships to finance CRE acquisitions.
  • Angel Say is the Co-founder and CEO of InsiteVR (YC W15), a company building immersive communication software for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. In 2012, as an undergraduate at Columbia University in New York, Angel experienced a $200M construction project block the campus observatory's view of the stars, which later inspired the first version of InsiteVR. In January 2015, InsiteVR joined Y-Combinator incubator as one of YC's only VR investments to date. Today, InsiteVR is used by over 100 of the top architecture and construction companies as a virtual reality alternative to traditional conferencing software.
  • Daniel Kobran is the Co-founder of Paperspace (YC W15). Daniel began his career in the architecture and engineering world working at the forefront of an emerging data-driven approach to modeling complex physical structures. Offloading computational workloads to the cloud was an early manifestation of Paperspace. Daniel’s role at the company encompasses business development, operations, and cloud infrastructure.
