Event description
SCRAP'S CREATIVE REUSE WORKSHOPS SERIES: An Hour of Knots with Windy Chien. Learn macrame knots from artist and author of "My Year of Knots"

About this Event

In this workshop, participants will have the rare opportunity to learn a handful of knots from Windy Chien, San Francisco artist and author of The Year of Knots. As she explains how a line’s journey creates the strength and beauty of each knot, she’ll also detail how her own journey from independent record store owner to iTunes product manager at Apple eventually lead to a yearlong creative exploration and life as a full-time artist. Workshop attendees will walk away with new knot tying skills, knowledge of the history and utility of various knots, and the story of why it’s never too late to start living a creative life.

Any color or texture of rope in the following dimensions:

Knot 1: 10’ long x 1/4” thick

Knot 2: 2’ long x 3/8” thick

Knot 3: 15’ long x 1/4” thick or 10’ long x 3/16” thick

Knot 4: 3’ long x 3/8” thick

Knot 5: 5’ long x 1/4” thick
