Description

Join the National Coalition for Community Capital for an Evening with Judy Wicks, Thursday, November 8 from 6:00-7:30 pm.

On Thur. Nov. 8, author, activist and entrepreneur, Judy Wicks, will share her story and thoughts on the importance of being a Localist. In 1983, Judy founded Philadelphia’s iconic White Dog Cafe in 1983, which became a pioneer in the farm to table movement and a model in sustainable business practices. She is founder of Fair Food Philly (2000), the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (2001) and the nationwide (BALLE) Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (2001).

Her work has earned numerous local and national awards, including the James Beard Foundation Humanitarian of the Year Award, the International Association of Culinary Professionals Humanitarian Award, and the Women Chefs and Restaurateurs Lifetime Achievement Award. Judy was inducted into the University Science Center’s Innovators Walk of Fame in 2016.

Good Morning, Beautiful Business, Judy’s acclaimed memoir, won a national gold medal for business leadership and has been translated into Chinese and Korean. Learn more about Judy at www.judywicks.com.

Please join NC3 and our sponsor, VSECU, as we learn about Judy’s continuing work to build a new economy of beautiful businesses and how all of us can contribute through our own actions as Localists. After Judy's talk, stick around for a brief networking reception to meet representatives from NC3, VSECU, and fellow localists in the Burlington area.
