An Evening with Johnny Wink
Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
It's complicated, I know. We will have a silent auction where you can bid on a few of Johnny's famous T-shirts, and possibly we will have a live auction for you to buy a lunch date with him that includes lunch from him. We might/might not give away to the person who travels from farthest away a signed and seriously very rare copy of his "Seven Ways to Prune a Grapefruit." People will mill. They will mill around tables where they will write down real or imaginary email addresses so we can send them our real or imaginary newsletter. In the milling, you might see old/new friends/enemies. It could be awkward. Did I mention that there will be milling? Many of you are shy, I know. If you have a kid or kids, you'll have to have decided whether to bring 'em or get a babysitter, and you might have to fiercely whisper-mouth at them in way (frankly kind of ugly) that will attract attention. Not that we're judging. I'm just saying. You will have to make some choices: where to park, where to sit, where to go afterwards with whom. After you have gone out to hang out with whomever, you will have to remember where you parked your car. Depending, this could be not-so-easy. You will have to figure out how from downtown to get back on I-30, definitely not-so-easy (don't ask me) but maybe easier than reading this paragraph. These are just a few of things that come to mind. (You can add your own in the "Comment" section.)
But really, it will be so beautiful and simple: Johnny will read poems and tell stories.
See you there.
