About this Event

Please join us for an evening with one of rock’s most influential and enduring singer-songwriters, Jesse Colin Young, who first made history with the Youngbloods on their classic ‘60s peace anthem “Get Together,” and who has amassed a loyal worldwide following over the past five decades. The program will begin with an intimate conversation moderated by Scott Goldman, discussing Young’s esteemed career and new album Dreamers, and will end with a performance. Jesse Colin Young has influenced and shaped the character of American music for over 50 years, with songs like “Darkness,” “Lightshine,” “Sunlight,” “Sugarbabe,” “Songbird,” and The Youngblood's version of “Get Together.” Discovered in 1961, Jesse Colin Young had a serious solo career with albums Soul of a City Boy and Youngblood, before he formed his folk rock band The Youngbloods in 1965. The Youngbloods made 5 records on RCA and 5 records on Warner Brothers before Jesse went on to his expansive solo career. Jesse Colin Young has released 29 records overall in his more than 50-year career between The Youngbloods and his solo albums. His latest album Dreamers, released digitally on February 15 and available on CD and LP May 24, explores a wide array of musical styles—blazing country-rock, exhilarating folk, Cajun waltz, neo-blues and Celtic grooves. The album includes some of the singer’s most deeply personal lyrics and casts a critical eye at the state of the world today, reflecting on the Boston Marathon bombing, 2016 Pulse nightclub massacre, #MeToo Movement, and more.
